What I Saw is What I Got: A Reaction Paper to Kimmy Dora (Kambal sa Kiyeme) Surrounded by the SWAT team, two women dressed exactly alike are seen on the rooftop of a building; and then, flashback kicks in. The film stretched on for another thirty minutes or so. To make it worse, the scenes were becoming pointless. To my dismay, the plot now showed more holes and unnecessary diversions. I did not feel the sentiment that I was supposed to feel with Kimmy and Dora’s reconciliation. â€Å"Finally, the real ending†, I mused to myself. Yet, what happened was utterly dreadful. Similar to old Filipino movies in the 80’s and 90’s, the film couldn’t have ended any worse. Kimmy and Dora are seen singing a sentimental song inside Dora’s pink Honda Jazz and after some more cheesy verses, they then gleefully caper and dance in the streets of Fort Bonifacio. I honestly hoped for the real ending to have more depth so as to make up for the rather unessential extension and the pathetic shallowness present all throughout the film. Being a comedy, the film’s main goal was to make the audience cachinnate and the film potentially made this possible by giving Eugene Domingo a drastic makeover in her overall appearance and disposition. To be brutally honest, Eugene Domingo is known as a comedienne whose popularity roots neither from her sexiness, beauty, cosmopolitanism nor seriousness. The film depicted her as a swanky tycoon who speaks fluent English – characteristics I could not initially think of Eugene Domingo to be. The irony her character, particularly Kimmy, generated was the film’s main attraction. With the tomfoolery she made out of herself (wearing a tight swimsuit) and the hilariously mortifying seductions she performed, Eugene Domingo made her first major role unforgettable. Though special effects were minimal, they were great distractions that lingered in my mind. To say the least, the animations were below average and dispensable. I stepped inside the cinema not knowing what the word â€Å"kiyeme† meant and I left my seat still unacquainted with the word’s true meaning. Surprising cameos of different celebrities were unsuccessful in enshrouding these inadequacies. Though the film wearied me to the point of wishing the occurrence of technical difficulties to cut the film short, the film wasn’t a total disaster. Amidst all these negative criticisms, I place the film in the same rank with almost all the humor-inducing Filipino films I have seen in the past. I’ve definitely seen worse. The film’s main fault was that it failed to amuse me. Besides my stiff and somewhat uncommon humor, this failure perhaps may be blamed on the fact that the funniest scenes the film had to offer were already shown in film previews of Kimmy Dora. This awareness of what was going to occur next may have possibly destroyed the chances of me laughing. There was no thrill. What I saw in the trailers was exactly what I got.

Multiple studies have been performed on patients with AS specifically focusing on their working memory. Working memory is a limited amount of information used over short periods of time to keep behavior continual and plan complex responses to stimuli. Working memory is a necessity to executive function. Asperger’s Syndrome interests me because; I have to care for several children with the syndrome this summer. The scientist observed and read other journals pertaining to the topic of Working Memory in AS patients. Many of the journals concluded to different theories. The scientists determined that the reasons for all of the different theories were the age and IQ differences among the participants in the studies. I agree that this is the determined problem in the other studies. He hypothesized that if the control group and independent variable group were consistently the same age and IQ that in working memory the AS children would do well in span tasks, n-back tasks, and digit conditions. The children would not do well in visual or spatial storage tasks, and location conditions. Also if the children could use verbal cues, they would do well in controls if they could not they would show impairment. In addition to the above the scientists hypothesized that working memory had a larger influence in abilities of AS children. The scientists chose children between the ages of 6.25 and 8.42. The 3 c hildren I care for are all in between the ages of 6 and 8. The study was done on children similar to the ones I interact with everyday. I believe that I truly understand the study because; I experience the children’s performance every day. I also would have probably hypothesized the same as the scientists because I easily see that the AS children I work with have a harder time with grasping visual tasks than understanding verbal tasks. The scientists used the AS children as the independent variable in the study and the normal children as the control group. They prepared eight different measures of working memory in the form of a test for the children. They proposed to the children that the tests were a form of a game so the children wouldn’t lose interest easily. The test was distributed in the hospital for the independent variable group and in a school for the control group. I feel that the scientist should have tested the children all in one room with a consistent te mperature. I think that the different environments affected the outcome of the study. Also, I believe that the children should have been told that it was a test so that they would have taken the measures seriously when completing them. The results showed that children with AS perform better with verbal tasks dealing with working memory than with visual/spatial tasks. The results supported the scientists hypotheses and proved that children with AS develop working memory differently than average children. With my experience I felt positive that this would be the outcome to this study. This article has interested and helped me in understanding the working memory development in the children I have been working with. I find this article mostly correct in all results. Performance enhancing drugs were started for the sole purpose of increasing athletic abilities. Pro sports players have adopted performance enhancing drugs all around the word. For better or for worse, performance enhancing drugs have affected processional sports for decades. Athletes still take PHD drug even with the severe health risks. There are several instances where a Pro will take them because the pressure of his or her fan base. The pro needs to meet the expectations of themselves and the people around. Steroids will give a slight advantage over your opponent, which is a proven fact. Steroids do things chemically that the body cannot perform naturally. There are times when an athlete does everything in their power to not take performance enhancing drugs. Drug free athletes will fall behind physically. Pressure to compete will suck some of these athletes into steroid use.
